Tour and transfer in one

A private layover tour turns waiting time into a short guided South African experience. It can start or end at O. R. Tambo, Lanseria, a Johannesburg or Pretoria hotel, a station, or another practical point.

The tour is structured around available time, not around a fixed brochure route.

Timing first

Realistic airport timing

Usable layover time is not the same as the time between flights. Immigration, baggage, customs, meeting time, traffic, return to the airport, security and airline check-in all reduce the available touring time.

Ekala will advise what can realistically be done. If timing is too tight, the route must be shortened or declined.

Ekala layover tours are private. Ekala does not run shared shuttle-style collections that stop en route to collect unrelated passengers. Collection and drop-off are planned for the specific guest and flight or hotel timing.

Where arriving at the airport, Ekala can meet in the main arrivals hall with a large printed sign to reduce confusion and wasted time.

What is included

A large wooden wall features intricately carved panels with bold numbers and various designs from 13 to 23, including animals, figures, and text—a nod to a safari specialist’s private tour. A metallic plaque and handle are mounted near panels 19 and 20.

Items are included only where specifically stated in the quote. Fuel, tolls and required entrance fees may be included where specified. Accommodation, meals, drinks, portage, calls and personal items are excluded unless clearly stated.

Additional luggage must be advised at enquiry stage. It may require a different vehicle or extra charge.
