Personal guiding, grounded in experience, knowledge and understanding
We are a small, family-run business, not a scheduled coach-tour operation. Our family’s roots in South Africa span generations, while more than two decades of guiding visitors have taught us that a worthwhile day depends on the guide’s judgement: which places belong together, where extra time helps, and when the plan should change.

Historic buildings, townships and landscapes are explained in relation to the lives and events that shaped them—not offered as disconnected stops.
Knowledge built through years of guiding
Years spent guiding in cities, historical landscapes and wildlife areas help us connect what guests see with the people, events and environments behind it. We do not simply follow a fixed list of stops.
Realistic, adaptable planning
We consider distances, requirements, arrangements, children, mobility and available time before proposing a day. We do not promise every site or sighting.

On historic ground
A battlefield ridge means more when evidence, line of sight and changes in terrain are explained together. Where the sources are uncertain, we say so.
In a city or township
One neighbourhood does not represent all of Soweto or Alexandra. Private guiding makes room for the contrasts and, when appropriate, local township resident knowledge.
Among fossils and landscapes
At the Cradle, scientific discoveries are not a single settled story. Maps, research material and careful explanations help visitors understand why interpretations change.
HOW WE WORK
Designed around the time you really have
Every proposal begins with your dates, the people travelling, start and finish points, interests and the pace that suits you. We then assess what makes sense together. A good tour may mean fewer stops and better understanding; a safari cannot guarantee sightings; historic sites may have access restrictions.
We consider the time needed to do each place justice, allowing for traffic, opening arrangements and realistic travel distances. The best itinerary is not necessarily the one containing the most stops.
RESPONSIBLE, PRACTICAL TRAVEL
Respect matters more than a slogan
We do not treat a living community as an exhibit or a wildlife encounter as a guaranteed performance. We discuss children’s needs, physical suitability, ethical concerns and realistic access before making commitments. Respect also affects how we approach residents, photography, local contributors and the choices we make when a particular visit is not appropriate.
