Why Ekala Does Not Publish Fixed Prices
Individual Quotes for Private Travel
Why Ekala quotes private tours individually instead of publishing generic fixed prices that may mislead guests.
Why no fixed prices
Private tours are not standard shelf products
Ekala’s tours are privately structured. The same tour name can mean very different distances, timings, inclusions, vehicle requirements, guiding time and third-party costs depending on the guests and the day.
Publishing a simple fixed price could make the website look easier, but it would often be misleading. Ekala prefers to quote honestly once the real details are known.
What affects price
Main price factors
- Date and availability.
- Number of guests and vehicle requirements.
- Collection and drop-off points.
- Distance, route and likely traffic.
- Duration and guiding time.
- Entrance fees, meals, accommodation and third-party bookings.
- Airport, station, safari, mining or special logistics.
- Dietary, mobility, child-friendly or other special requirements.
Start and end logic
Start and end points matter
A private tour starting in Sandton and ending in Pretoria is not the same as a tour starting at O. R. Tambo, going through Soweto and ending at a lodge. Collection and drop-off points can change distance, timing, vehicle use and what is realistic.
For wider South African routes, at least one end normally needs to be Johannesburg or the route must be quoted as a wider private journey.
Why from-prices mislead
The danger of a generic from-price
A low advertised price may exclude the items that matter: entrance fees, guiding time, meals, route distance, vehicle requirements, airport timing, accommodation or specialist interpretation. A high advertised price may scare off a guest whose simpler request would cost less.
Ekala’s quote should reflect the actual private service being requested.
Information required
What we need before pricing
To quote properly, Ekala needs dates, number of guests, collection and drop-off points, flight details where relevant, tour interests, pace, dietary needs, allergies, mobility limitations and special requirements.
The quote can then show what is included, what is excluded, what is realistic and what may need a different structure.
Link with terms and risk
Price and confirmation are linked
A quote is not the same as a confirmed booking. Availability, payment, required information, risk disclosure and any indemnity or third-party supplier requirements must still be dealt with before confirmation.
This protects guests from unclear expectations and protects Ekala from accepting a booking that cannot be supplied properly.
Before we quote or confirm
Information needed before quoting
Please email dates, number of guests, collection point, drop-off point, flight details where relevant, tour interests, dietary needs, allergies, medical or mobility concerns and any special requirements.
